Leadership Coaching
As the challenges facing leaders and organizations become more complex, leaders are considering coaching as a way of dealing with them. Our coaches work one-on-one with a business leader in a series of dynamic, confidential sessions. Some of the goals for this coaching are to assist a leader in communicating more effectively, building teams, navigating change, developing emotional intelligence, delivering presentations, and building employee commitment. The coaching client helps to define the goals and focus of the coaching experience.
The Professional Development Group works with clients to determine an approach to succession that best addresses the organization’s needs. Since success depends on the senior managers’ commitment and participation, the first step is to meet with them to determine the purpose, the outcomes, and their roles. Next we sketch out the procedures to follow, identify the target employee groups, and set the program priorities.
An executive was hired by the President to play a specific role in the organization. The President did not communicate these expectations to the peers of the newly hired executive. The highly paid professional left in the new organization in less than a year. The cost to the organization was significant.
The importance of developing an on-boarding process so a new manager or executive becomes a contributing member of the team quickly is clear. How to do this is not always so clear. We have a process that works. Understanding what the key accountabilities for a role really are and communicating them so expectations are set early is vital to the new team member's success as part of a team. A strategic process for on-boarding is one that addresses a variety of issues related to the right communication style, workplace motivators and natural talent that the organization need now. Building the firm’s leadership depth incorporates culture, relationships, performance expectations, values, and communication with the internal community. We create customized 90 day plans so the first days on the job lead to clear direction that builds team vision and direction.
